The viability of self-employment for individuals with disabilities in the United States: A synthesis of the empirical-research literature

摘要: The lack of employment opportunities and stable for individuals with disabilities continues to pose personal societal difficulties challenges. Moreover, research government statistics have consistently reported that lower wages benefits than without disabilities, as well limited promotion career advancement. Not surprisingly, also experience persistently higher poverty rates. While much is known in the empirical-research literature about who work someone else, less self-employment. Some anecdotal information suggests self-employment may be a way improve these outcomes. In present paper, we reviewed, analyzed, synthesized findings studies on United States. We found successful defined financial non-financial terms largely influenced by three factors: individual characteristics, level supports, accountability systems. Because small number U.S. self-employment, however, our conclusions are tentative. Further empirical needed, focusing especially long-term Implications researchers, other stakeholders discussed conclusion.
