摘要: Conductivity, temperature, and depth data collected during the summers of 2003 2008 were usedto study upper-ocean (top 200 m) heat content in Canada Basin. The variation with depth, diFFErences between summers, principal driving factors, horizontal spatial scale diFFErenceswere analyzed. A catastrophic reduction sea ice cover Basin was evident by comparisonwith 2003, suggesting that more solar radiation absorbed upper ocean summer 2008. Thesea produced freshwater ocean. Thus, seawater properties changed. studyshows huge would result two changes-widespread warming ocean, pacific inflow water basin increased substantially. Near-surface temperature maximum(NSTM) also analyzed as an indicator Arctic Ocean warming.
