摘要: Although sorghum is a crop grown under harsh environments, its productivity adversely affected by various abiotic stresses including drought, temperature extremes, low fertility, and mineral toxicity among others. In recent years large number of genetic genomic resources have become available in sorghum, which provide researchers opportunities to relate sequence variations with phenotypic traits interest their utilization improvement programs. The application the molecular marker technologies has shown promise for efficient breeding. However, very few successful examples are public domain research this direction. Some these successes specifically related improving explained chapter. With advances next-generation sequencing high-throughput phenotyping platforms/technologies, utilizing new/advanced mapping populations such as nested-association (NAM), backcross-derived NAM great potential. These advancements will be drivers integration genomics routine breeding programs immediate future.
