Severity of Underlying Disease as a Predictor of Nosocomial Infection

摘要: In a prospective study, we determined that severity of underlying disease at time admission indicates medical patients unusual risk nosocomial infection. The infection rate was 23.6% in with fatal disease, 9.6% those ultimately and 2.1% nonfatal disease. After an awareness program promoted the use established methods for prevention infections established, there decline overall incidence endemic from 9.2% to 4.8% ( P =.05). JAMA 239:1047-1051, 1978)
