Disseminated Penicillium marneffei infection with fungemia and endobronchial disease in an AIDS patient in China.

摘要: Objective:To present a rare Chinese case ofdisseminated Penicilliummarneffei infection with fungemia and endobronchial disease in an AIDS patient. Clinical Presentation Intervention: A 26-year-old policeman who had resided Guangxi Province, China, for 3 years presented to his county hospital 2-month history of high fever cough. provisional diagnosis pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) was made. Accordingly, the patient treated anti-TB drugs 1 month but no clinical improvement; he then referred toWest China Hospital. Blood bone marrow cultures as well bronchoscopic biopsy were positive P. marneffei. confirmatory serologic test HIV positive. combination therapy amphotericin B itraconazole instituted, responded treatment. Conclusion: This showsendobronchial involvement caused by emerging fungal microorganism. HIV-positive patients residence or travel southern presentation suggestive TB responding poorly treatment may have marneffei infection.
