摘要: Abstract Hot flow anomalies (HFAs) are studied using observations of the RAPID suprathermal charged particle detector, FGM magnetometer, and CIS plasma detector aboard four Cluster spacecraft. Previously, we several specific features tangential discontinuities on basis measurements in February–April 2003. In this paper, confirm following results: angle between Sun direction tangentional discontinuity (TD) normal is larger than 45° during HFAs, magnetic field directional change large. We then present evidence for a new necessary condition formation that is, solar wind speed significantly ( about 200 km / s or Δ M f = 2.3 ) higher long-term average. The existence also confirmed by simultaneous ACE MAG SWEPAM at L1 point 1.4 million upstream Earth. results compared with recent hybrid simulations.
