Knowledge and practice of patients with diabetes mellitus in Lebanon: a cross-sectional study.

摘要: The objective of this study was to assess the knowledge and practice Lebanese patients living with diabetes mellitus in regards their self- management. A cross-sectional study, conducted between January June 2015, enrolled 207 urban adult from community pharmacies while purchasing medications. Their self-management practices were assessed using a structured anonymous interview survey questionnaire. mean age participants 60.2 ± 15.5 years, Male/Female ratio 1.38. score 2.34 ± 0.88 points (out 6). Very few (17.4%) knew current medication side effects. 5.86 ± 1.77 8). Only 15.9% reported physical activity. multiple linear analysis showed that those university degree had significantly higher (Beta = 0.448, p = 0.001) (Beta = 0.523 p = 0.047) than intermediate or primary schooling. Those who following special diet (Beta = 0.482, p < 0.001) did not. Knowledge highly correlated (Beta = 0.844, p < 0.001). There no significant differential by gender for scores. scores not satisfactory. Well-targeted interventions are needed, such as improving communication pharmacist people diabetes. observed low adherence exercise among should also be addressed.
