摘要: Although the physiological and psychological mechanisms involved in development of sleep disorders remain similar throughout history, factors that potentiate these are closely related to "zeitgeist", ie, sociocultural, technological lifestyle trends which characterize an era. Technological advancements have afforded modern society with 24-hour work operations, transmeridian travel exposure a myriad electronic devices such as televisions, computers cellular phones. Growing evidence suggests take their toll on human functioning health via damaging effects quality, quantity timing. Additional behavioral associated poor include weight gain, insufficient physical exercise consumption substances caffeine, alcohol nicotine. Some been implicated self-help aids used combat daytime sleepiness impaired functioning. This review aims highlight current shown scientific investigations be patterns, duration quality. Current understanding underlying associations will presented, well some reported consequences. Available therapies treat discussed. Perspectives provided for further investigation sleep, including developing theoretical frameworks, identifying mechanisms, establishing appropriate public interventions aimed improve behaviors order enhance society.
