Sensitivity of tree ring growth to local and large-scale climate variability in a region of Southeastern Brazil

摘要: We explored the relationship between tree growth in two tropical species and local large-scale climate variability Southeastern Brazil. Tree ring width chronologies of Tectona grandis (teak) Pinus caribaea (Caribbean pine) trees were compared with (Water Requirement Satisfaction Index—WRSI, Standardized Precipitation Index—SPI, Palmer Drought Severity Index—PDSI) indices that analyze equatorial pacific sea surface temperature (Trans-Nino Index-TNI Nino-3.4-N3.4) atmospheric circulation variations Southern Hemisphere (Antarctic Oscillation-AAO). Teak showed positive correlation three current summer fall. A significant WRSI index Caribbean pine was observed dry season preceding formation. The influence patterns only for TNI AAO, where there a radial reduction months growing values teak increase (decrease) during December (March) to February (May) previous (current) phase AAO trees. development new dendroclimatological study Brazil sheds light on recent decades, contributing future change studies.
