The benzoquinone-mediated electrochemical microbial biosensor for water biotoxicity assay

摘要: Abstract A simple mediated microbial biosensor providing real-time monitoring of water quality and evaluation biotoxicity was fabricated by entrapping Escherichia coli ( E. ) cells in gelatin on glassy carbon electrode with benzoquinone as the redox mediator. The assay based respiratory activity estimated oxidation current microbially reduced benzoquinone. neutrality lipophilicity rendered better efficiency than ferricyanide reactions. After optimization preparation conditions, prepared biosensors have measured several common toxicants different concentrations. In addition, binary mixtures heavy metals wastewater were investigated. exhibited good repeatability stability measurements.
