摘要: We use a life course framework to analyze lifetime patterns of mortality among black Americans. Using this directs attention specific questions regarding the potential causes racial group differentials in mortality, and we hope moves field toward more comprehensive testable explanations. The work on aging, course, health has long highlighted crossover effect late-life (e.g., Johnson 2000). While there are heated debates about United States 2000; Preston et al. 1996), demographers have noted its existence both cross-sectional population-level data, longitudinal panel studies (Johnson Gibson (Gibson 1991, 1994; Jackson 1987) speculated that is based upon series sweeps beginning population midlife, thereby leaving hardier blacks very older ages whose probability survival comparison whites’ reverses becomes favorable.
