摘要: Abstract Specimens of the red alga Bostrychia tenella J. Agardh (Rhodomelaceae, Ceramiales) were collected from Sao Paulo coast and submitted to room temperature solvent extraction. The resulting extract was fractionated by partitioning with organic solvent. n-hexane (BT-H) dichloromethane (BT-D) fractions showed antiprotozoal potential in biological tests Trypanosoma cruzi Leishmania amazonensis presented high activity an antifungal assay phytopathogenic fungi Cladosporium cladosporioides sphaerospermum . Chromatography methods used generate subfractions BT-H (H01 H11) BT-D (D01 D19). analyzed gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC/MS), substances identified retention index (Kovats) comparison databases commercial mass spectra. volatile compounds found marine algae as fatty acids, low molecular hydrocarbons, esters steroids; some these have been previously described literature based on other activities. Moreover, uncommon substances, such neophytadiene also identified. In a trypanocidal assay, IC 50 values 16.8 19.1 μg/mL, respectively, more active than gentian violet standard (31 μg/mL); H02, H03, D01 D02 against L. amasonensis , exhibiting 1.5, 2.7, 4.4, 4.3 μg/mL, respectively (standard amphotericin B: = 13 μg/mL). All potential. This work reports identification GC/MS for B. first time.
