摘要: Although the primitive (Navier-Stokes) equations for ocean physics are known, any useable model simplifies them, normally by eliminating terms and selecting a specific range of space time scales. Processes outside these scale ranges parameterized (or ignored). For joint physical-biological theory, an essential assumption is that same divisions can be made problem parameterizing neglected biological scales solved. Similarly kinds data must correspond. Possible subdivisions will discussed.
