摘要: Clinical trials (NASCET, ECTS) have shown that carotid endarterectomy is protective against stroke in patients with symptomatic severe stenosis. To decrease costs and risks, new diagnostic tools been developed, such as duplex ultrasound (DUS), magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), more recently computed tomography (CTA). CTA MRA provide excellent 3D images of the extracranial vessels, using a volume-rendering technique. Digitally subtracted (DSA-MRA) obtained high-speed acquisitions during gadolinium injection has also become available. These techniques are changing role non-invasive assessment Although it probably too early to assess definite algorithm, use DSA pre-surgical tool for defining stenosis rapidly decreasing.
