Spatial variation of ozone depletion rates in the springtime Antarctic polar vortex.

摘要: An area-mapping technique, designed to filter out synoptic perturbations of the Antarctic polar vortex such as distortion or displacement away from pole, was applied Nimbus-7 TOMS (Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer) data. This procedure reveals detailed morphology temporal evolution column O3. The results for austral spring 1987 suggest existence a relatively stable collar region enclosing an interior that is undergoing large variations. There tentative evidence quasi-periodic (15 20 days) O3 fluctuations in and upwelling tropospheric air late spring. A simplified photochemical model loss area-mapped are used constrain chlorine monoxide (ClO) concentrations springtime vortex. required account observed higher than those previously reported by Anderson et al. but comparable their recently revised values.
