摘要: Publisher Summary Penicillin permanently changed infectious disease research and therapeutic medicine, it transformed patient expectations the structures of drug companies, contributed new insights in microbiology molecular biology, captured public imagination scientific breakthroughs. Alexander Fleming is scientist who discovered an antibacterial activity a Penicillium growth medium. To avoid repetition phrase “mold broth filtrate,” he coined term “penicillin,” substance that eventually became known as “miracle drug.” Fleming's story has been told many times with enough elaboration sometimes called “Fleming myth.” This chapter elaborates which quite fascinating. Hence, phenomenon observed Fleming—lysis—was extremely unusual. was something new: natural product unknown structure strong activity.
