摘要: Intracellular bacterial pathogens have evolved a range of mechanisms, including manipulation the host cell epigenetic machinery and gene expression rewiring, to parasitize thrive inside phagocytes. A new study in The EMBO Journal (Yaseen et al , 2017) reports that, conversely, macrophages can use modulators modify surface invading counteract infection. This opens avenues better understand host–pathogen interactions develop novel, more effective antimicrobial strategies.
