摘要: Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) was administered orally, in doses of 12-65 microgram/kg at intervals 1-4 hours, to 12 neonates whom the pulmonary circulation depended on patency ductus arteriosus. After an oral dose, both oxygen saturation (SaO2) and plasma PGE2 concentration increased consistently within 15-30 minutes, reaching values comparable those during i.v. infusions. Treatment continued for 5 days 4 months. In eight infants, withdrawal resulted a decrease SaO2, from mean 75 +/- 7% 57 10% (+/- SD). The remained responsive long periods--in four over 3 Consequently, surgery could be delayed until infants their arteries had grown. Side effects therapy were similar infusion but less severe this series. effectiveness simplicity administration have advantages administration, especially long-term treatment.
