摘要: The north Pindos Mountains of mainland Greece expose a series thrust sheets, which were emplaced towards the southwest during Early Tertiary. Jurassic ophiolite forms upper part this assemblage, and reveals complex history, interpreted as mainly result supra-subduction zone spreading processes. Ophiolitic sheets are additionally found structurally beneath main peridotite body, contain variable volcanic sequences, including units island arc tholeiitic boninitic affinities. metamorphic sole formed in response to overthrusting young, hot, ophiolite, followed by emplacement onto Pelagonian continental margin east. During Cretaceous, ocean existed remnant basin west was infilled deep marine sediments. final Late Eocene collision, Cretaceous sediments Tertiary foreland deposits, overthrust underlying then Apulia southwest.
