摘要: Objective: Compounded oral solutions for respiratory illnesses such as the common cold and cough are commonly prepared dispensed by licensed pharmacists in United States Puerto Rico (PR). Standard protocols their preparation quality assessment patient counseling available most of prescribed compounded solutions. However, PR there is a prescription approach colloquially referred to “mezclitas”: mixtures antitussives, expectorants, decongestants, other active ingredients commercial which no science-driven compounding guidelines local pharmacists. Methods: This study evaluated physicochemical stability (containing guaifenesin, dextromethorphan, dexamethasone) that used treatment PR. The indicators tested included clarity, odor, pH, viscosity. Changes were different storage conditions (ambient temperature refrigerated) over period 6 months. Results: samples exhibited small changes color, Although observed small, they may be indicative chemical and/or physical transformations occurred time. A survey also evidenced absence standardized dispensation mezclitas Conclusions: In spite illnesses, our suggests not heavily compromised. However further testing needed findings develop illnesses.
