摘要: The protein (PTN) encoded by the pleiotrophin gene belongs to a recently described family of heparin-binding cytokines whose expression is temporally and spatially regulated during development. We have now isolated genomic clones human PTN gene, characterized its promoter region, determined transcription initiation site(s), established functional activity promoter. A fragment -550/+191 that contains CAAT box, no apparent TATA four consensus sites for binding MyoD sufficient provide optimal activity. serum response element found at -559 -568. also identified on chromosome 7, band q33 mouse Ptn 6, respectively. data thus identify characterize 5' end suggest potential regions may contribute regulation transcriptional activity, localize in chromosomes.
