摘要: A new transect approach for sampling forest tree regeneration is developed with the aim to minimize amount of field measurements, and produce an accurate estimation species composition density independent height. This based on “probability proportional size” (PPS) theory assess heterogeneous vegetation. method compared other approaches simulated measured, real data. The main result that requires about 50% time stand as plot approach, due fact only 25% individuals are measured. In addition, tall members counted equal probability small members. not case in approach. evenness 0.1 0.2 units larger by PPS than which means shows a more homogenous layer even though densities height distributions similar. diversity variable both needs further investigations.
