Research on the application of SNS in university libraries: A case study of microblogs in Chinese “211 Project” universities

摘要: Purpose This study aims to analyse the basic status of application social networking sites (SNSs) in Chinese university libraries and explore relationship between microblog output scientific research achievements universities. This suggests methods for improving efficiency SNS use promotes services universities. Design/methodology/approach Online survey statistical analysis were conducted collect number types SNSs used by 112 universities under “211 project”. as an example analysed distribution different libraries. Correlation multiple regression factors related microblogs, such followings, followers, posts published articles. Findings SNSs changed information utilization behaviour users. Survey results show that increasing are using SNSs. These mainly microblogs WeChat. The proportion applied comprehensive science technology was higher than other Results showed followers has a significantly positive effect on articles university. Research limitations/implications This three main limitations. First, data collection is incomplete, which easily causes error results. Second, overall lacking accurate understanding, indicates limitations terms conclusion. Finally, scope narrow only studied situation microblogs. Future should focus sorting, make comparative studies periods data, conduct cultural user usage perspective network platforms libraries.
