The Association Between Online Health Information-Seeking Behaviors and Health Behaviors Among Hispanics in New York City: A Community-Based Cross-Sectional Study.

摘要: Background: Hispanics are the fastest-growing minority group in United States and they suffer from a disproportionate burden of chronic diseases. Studies have shown that online health information has potential to affect behaviors influence management disease for significant proportion population, but little research focused on Hispanics. Objective: The specific aim this descriptive, cross-sectional study was examine association between information–seeking (physical activity, fruit vegetable consumption, alcohol use, hypertension medication adherence) among Methods: Data were collected convenience sample (N=2680) living northern Manhattan by bilingual community workers face-to-face interview analyzed using linear ordinal logistic regression. Variable selection statistical analyses guided Integrative Model eHealth Use. Results: Only 7.38% (198/2680) reported behaviors. Levels moderate physical activity fruit, vegetable, consumption low. Among individuals taking (n=825), adherence as high approximately one-third (30.9%, 255/825) sample. Controlling demographic, situational, literacy variables, significantly associated with (β=0.35, 95% CI 0.08-0.62, P =.01) (β=0.36, 0.06-0.65, =.02) (β=3.73, 1.99-5.46, <.001), not or adherence. In regression models, factors, which used control 3 behaviors: social networking site membership (used measure one dimension computer literacy) (β=0.23, 0.05-0.42, =.02), (β=0.44, 0.24-0.63, (β=–0.32, –0.62 –0.03, =.03).
