摘要: Osteoartrit ar en vanligt forekommande sjukdom hos vara hundar som associeras med kronisk smarta. Som behandling mot smartan anvands ofta non-steroid antiinflammatory drugs (NSAID) hammar enzymet cyklooxygenas (COX). De traditionella NSAID-preparaten har vid langtidsbehandling gett upphov till allvarliga biverkningar sasom mag- och tarmslemhinneskador. Upptackten av de tva isoenzymerna COX1, uttrycks kontinuerligt i alla vavnader, COX2 vissa vavnader samt uppregleras inflammation, ledde till utvecklingen coxiberna. Det typ NSAID utvecklades intentionen att minska biverkningsfrekvensen genom selektivt inhibera COX2. I nulaget det inte helt klart hur skiljer sig mellan selektiva oselektiva COX2-hammare.
