摘要: [1] Stratospheric aerosol measurements from the University of Wyoming balloonborne optical particle counters (OPCs), Stratospheric Aerosol and Gas Experiment (SAGE) II, Halogen Occultation (HALOE) were compared in period 1982–2000, when available. The OPCs measure size distributions, HALOE multiwavelength (2.45–5.26 μm) extinction can be used to retrieve distributions. extinctions at SAGE II wavelengths (0.386–1.02 computed these distributions measurements. In addition, surface areas derived all three experiments compared. While overall impression results is encouraging, agreement change with latitude, altitude, time, parameter. broadest sense, comparisons fall into two categories: high loading (volcanic periods) low (background periods altitudes above 25 km). When amount was low, higher than OPC estimates, while lower OPCs. Under conditions instruments mutually agree within 50%.
