摘要: Abstract Following Appendix II from the EU Habitats Directive, distribution and conservation status of 102 plant species in mainland Spain Balearic Islands were studied. Distribution data herbarium bibliographic sources collected. Field work for 78 taxa with most restricted distributions was undertaken order to improve knowledge their populations, limits possible threats. Some extreme examples very low number individuals or narrow areas occupancy are pointed out. Natural causes land development stressed as important factors threat. Changes assignment IUCN categories proposed some plants. Using these plants, geographical ecological patterns discussed, identifying Sierra Nevada an enclave largest threatened taxa. Inconsistencies between previous Red Lists endangered Spanish plants Directive indicated, guidelines proposed.
