摘要: Abstract Bacteriophage SPO1 host-dependent mutants in three cistrons show defects the program of viral transcription (Gage & Geiduschek, 1971a). Mutants two eistrons ( sus F4 and F14) are analogous to T4 maturation defective mutants: they replicate DNA non-permissive host but unable make late l or m 2 , RNA do not form protein subassemblies virion. These also shut off transcription. A mutant a third cistron F21) only transcribes that e em ) for which no synthesis infected cell is required. Non-permissive F21 cells fail 1 almost entirely cease eight ten minutes after infection (at 37 °C). transcriptive suggest simple hierarchical ordering normal temporal sequence wild-type That ordering, turn, suggests model during development involves less than control elements transcription, positive one negative.
