摘要: The interplay between the chemical microenvironment surrounding disulfides and redox environment of media on thiol-disulfide exchange kinetics was examined by using a peptide platform. Exchange up to 34 cysteine-containing peptides were measured in several buffers. electrostatic attraction/repulsion charged reducing agents such as glutathione found have very pronounced effect (differences ca. three orders magnitude). could be directly correlated charge over entire range examined. This study highlights possibility finely predictably tuning exchange, demonstrates importance considering both local disulfide nature major species present for which their use is intended (e.g., drug delivery systems, sensors, etc).
