摘要: Abstract Objectives There is currently no accurate profile of the economic burden dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), particularly any examination direct medical costs DLB by number affected clinical domains. Understanding how trends in use healthcare resources evolve as progresses presents opportunities for development earlier and more appropriate interventions. Design Retrospective study using claims data extracted from IBM MarketScan Commercial Medicare Supplemental database. Setting Participants In total, 536 patients database 5485 Methods Patients were grouped into disease complexity categories based on core features (ie, fluctuating cognition, motor symptoms, visual hallucinations, rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder addition to dementia) observed during period: observed, plus 1, 2, or ≥3 features, respectively. Outcome measures included resource utilization costs. Results both databases, total increased features. Compared all other had significantly higher mean visits adjusted unadjusted analyses. Fluctuating cognition was associated highest costs, suggesting that this feature particular a considerable burden. Conclusions Implications Analyzing showed cost impact increasing domains specific domains, need targeted comprehensive interventions improve overall DLB.
