摘要: Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) bacteria synthesize different insecticidal proteins named Cry, Vip, and Cyt that are able to kill insect orders, or nematodes. These have been extensively used in control practices agriculture as sprays expressed genetically modified plants. This chapter reviews the mechanism of action these Bt proteins. In addition, genetic engineering has proven help developing novel biotechnological applications toxins, such Cry1AMod which active against insects developed resistance Cry toxins; zymogen-like Vip2 proteins, can be specific pests. Overall, great diversity toxins represents a broad opportunity most important pests affect crops, well vectors human diseases malaria dengue, design strategies manage development toxins.
