摘要: The effects of a zinc supplement on maternal status and milk concentrations through > or = 7 mo lactation were examined. Seventy-one lactating women received either daily 15-mg (ZS, n 40) placebo (NZS, 31) started by 2 wk postpartum in double-blind, randomized design. Overall mean intakes 13.0 +/- 3.4 mg/d for the NZS group 25.7 3.9 (including supplement) ZS group. Plasma significantly higher than those (P 0.05). Milk declined over course study all subjects but not affected supplementation. dietary intake observed nonsupplemented was adequate to maintain normal lactation. Similar controlled intervention trials less well-nourished populations will be required assess impact lower concentrations.
