摘要: BACKGROUND Alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse undermine physical psychological well-being, contributing to the array of illnesses that necessitate admission acute care settings. Addictive disorders often are undetected, underreported, or overshadowed by primary illness. Nurses need continuing education enhance competence in meeting this challenging problem. METHOD Through a unique collaboration between university faculty nurses from seven hospitals, attended 18 monthly workshops designed meet their learning needs related substance abuse. RESULTS The acquired essential knowledge skills regarding abusing clients. publication resource manual establishment network professionals committed improving practice additional positive outcomes endeavor. CONCLUSION Project SAEL (Substance Abuse Education Liaisons) is model can be emulated others.
