摘要: Patterns of sexual dimorphism and age structure were investigated in two populations the newt Calotriton arnoldi, endemic Montseny Massif (NE Iberian Peninsula). In contrast to Pyrenean (Calotriton asper) brook is characterized by slightly larger females (60.3 ± 0.3 mm; maximum: 68 mm) than males (59.5 0.2 64 more similar body shape between sexes. Both sexes mature at same (3 years), show achieve longevity (8-9 years). Comparing our results with framework variation life-history traits Calotriton, newts exhibit fast maturity short longevity. Curiously, we have found a lack covariation maturity, total size species. Only males, seems be affected altitude, but an unexpected way: maturation delayed low altitudes. Moreover, does not differs where immatures are terrestrial vs. those they remain aquatic. Our suggest that could determined selective factors play their role small geographic scale.
