摘要: The first magneto-optical effect was discovered by Michael Faraday in 1845 when he observed the rotation plane of polarisation light which transmitted through glass a direction parallel to an applied magnetic field’. Experiments then spread other materials, particularly gases, leading up discovery Zeeman 1896. By early years twentieth century, following formulation electromagnetic theory Maxwell and dispersion Lorentz, Drude, Voigt others, effects were remarkably well understood terms classical dynamics electron field2, 3.
