Abstract : This paper presents a comparison of various methods for culture, quantification, and maintenance sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) under laboratory conditions, using liquid semisolid media water soil samples. Starkey, Postgate B, API modified Baars were used with an incubation time 21 days in GasPack™ anaerobic jars type. The medium was more efficient the quantification SRB both when compared other culture tested, detecting differences three orders magnitude samples two at 8 incubation. Petri dishes allowed isolation pure cultures by streak plate method. It found that strains remain viable up to months, while same kept only one month.
