Mild reproductive impact of a Y chromosome deletion on a C57BL/6J substrain.

摘要: A recently reported deletion of about 40 Mb in length between 6.12/6.57 and 46.73/47.31 Mb on the Y chromosome long arm C57BL/6JBomTac inbred strain made us closely examine strain’s breeding history reproductive characteristics. We verified that two copies Rbm31y are present inside putative were indeed deleted. This presents an expected litter size for a C57BL/6 substrain. In vitro fertilization (IVF) efficiency efficiencies comparable to those C57BL/6NTac substrain; however, male/female sex ratio is mildly skewed towards females. There increase percentage sperm shape abnormalities found (35%) versus (11%). The most frequent type abnormality observed bent heads (19%). Additionally, there deregulation several transcripts expressed testes. determined this mutation arose Foundation Colony 2008, it was completely fixed colony by 2009.
