摘要: Bile acids are implicated as etiologic agents in cancer of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, including esophagus, stomach, small intestine, liver, biliary pancreas and colon/rectum. Deleterious effects bile acid exposure, likely related to carcinogenesis, include: induction reactive oxygen nitrogen species; DNA damage; stimulation mutation; apoptosis short term, selection for resistance long term. These deleterious have, so far, been reported most consistently relation esophageal colorectal cancer, but also some extent other organs. In addition, evidence is reviewed an association increased exposure with risk human populations, specific genetic conditions, animal experiments. A model role GI carcinogenesis presented from a Darwinian perspective that offers explanation how observed on cells contribute development.
