摘要: A recent planning devise aimed at dealing with land scarcity is the propagation of multifunctional use. Multifunctional use can generally be defined as combination different socio-economic functions in same area. The goal Land Use (as a concept), just like New Urbanism, Smart Growth and Compact City Concept, to save scarce space by intensifying space. Before we assess social desirability projects, need answer question why various activities cluster space, what types synergy might arise from such clustering. We do so addressing an empirical phenomenon instead concept. Although encompasses more than clustering economic activities, for example also allocation claims made housing, transport, water, recreation nature, this paper focus on effects activities. focusing concept agglomeration economies general ‘returns diversityÂ’ particular. By means simple spatial-economic model show spatial equilibrium impacts existence investigates market failures that may hamper spontaneous emergence optimal activity mixes clusters, addresses whether private monopolistic development sites would by-pass failures.
