摘要: Australian cities are in a time of transition. There new constraints emerging that mean kinds city development patterns needed. This change includes: (a) awareness the need for slowing down sprawl and providing alternatives to car through better transit land-use planning, (b) demonstrations design options (better cities), (c) introduction planning management such as urban consolidation, demand integrated strategic network development. All these moves towards compact city. At same there is considerable momentum behind traditional practices institutions which produce our suburbs transport patterns. Australians general happy with their long they can have reasonable house land package afford multiple ownership it generally assumes. two problems this situation though: increasing difficulty kind house/car escalating public external costs. Unless reformed will be burden on purse or an unfortunate legacy future generations. private costs (as well costs) hence growing inequities. not acceptable challenge provide amenity form approaches.
