WIKI’D TRANSGRESSIONS: SCAFFOLDING STILL NECESSARY TO SUPPORT ONLINE COLLABORATIVE LEARNING

摘要: This paper is a reflection of my own individualistic participation in the EDUC 5001G: Principles Learning (PoL) class wiki assignment. Specifically, I investigate need for increased scaffolding strategies to facilitate direct collaboration among its participants. In order do this, first conducted preliminary examination efficacy and suitability wikis as tools knowledge construction well some that have been documented their implementations. The revealed although proven be expedient foster collaborative construction, social aspects activity reinforced formal learning environments. Accordingly, an analysis other students’ behaviour, different cases application, indicated predispositions work independently may aggravating factors inhibiting natural occurrence events. Finally, conclusions reiterated critical role facilitator behaviour overcome inclinations complete assignments autonomously. Examples discussed include: structuring activities according relevant theoretical frameworks, encouraging students use existing avenues communication providing alternatives, assigning specific differentiated roles. contributes literature which has emphasized established framework guide effective implementation education settings.
