摘要: Abstract One of the main challenges impeding wider uptake magnesium alloys by industry is their poor resistance to general corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking (SCC), nature which not fully understood. Although SCC generally associated with hydrogen embrittlement, experimental data on possible state, concentration distribution in Mg scarce, its role unclear. These issues are addressed present study using as-cast technically pure as well wrought ZK60 AZ31 slow-strain rate tensile tested air corrosive media before after prestraining. Hydrogen extraction curves have been obtained analyzed for specimens media. It found that most part contained products while diffusible matrix negligible all materials studied. On basis fractographic observations combined gas-analysis mechanical testing data, it suggested results from brittle a surface hydride film, likely adsorbed facilitating ductile fracture.
