On the accuracy of some mark-recapture estimators

摘要: The behaviour of the mark-recapture estimators Petersen, Bailey (triple catch) and Jolly Seber are examined theoretically empirically by means simulation techniques. correlation between parameter [Formula: see text] its associated variance is shown to be significant for all estimators. This makes estimated an insensitive measure accuracy estimate except at very high sampling intensities. Such intensities rarely achieved in experimental work so method must considered limited use. At necessary give a coefficient variation less than 0.05 it does not seem likely that will produce serious underestimation but minimum confidence limits recommended.
