摘要: This cross sectional study was conducted to identify the common bacterial causes of community acquired pneumonia (CAP) from sputum and blood by culture polymerase chain reaction (PCR) evaluate effectiveness these tests. A total 105 samples were collected patients with on clinical suspicion. Common causative agents detected Gram staining, cultures, biochemical tests PCR. Among 55 positive cases, a majority (61.82%) in age group between 21-50 years ratio male female 2.5:1. Most (61.90%) cases lower socio-economic group. Out samples, 23 (37.12%) stain, 29 (27.62%) yielded growth media 37 (35.24%) PCR for Streptococcus pneumoniae Haemophilus influenzae. most aetiological agent (19.05%) followed Klebsiella (13.33%), influenzae (8.57%) Pseudomonas aeruginosa (5.71%). Multiplex is useful technique rapid diagnosis directly blood. Considering as gold standard, sensitivity 96.55% specificity 88.15%. More than 80% isolates found be sensitive ampicillin, amoxycillinclavulanate, ceftriaxone. Susceptibilities other antimicrobials ranged 65% azithromycin 70% levofloxacin. On hand, negative organisms more meropenem, ceftriaxone, amoxycillin-clavulanate amikacin.
