Gastric cancer: epidemiology and risk factors.

摘要: Gastric cancer is one of the major malignancies in world. This article summarizes current understanding worldwide burden this disease, its geographic variation, and temporal trends. An overview presented known risk factors, including genetic, dietary, behavioral, but focuses on Helicobacter pylori infection as most important factor noncardia gastric cancer. When data literature allow, we distinguish between cardia sub-sites, it now clear that these two anatomic locations present distinct sometimes opposite epidemiological characteristics.
