摘要: Abstract Available chemical analyses have been evaluated and a water quality map prepared using electrical conductivity values. The country has divided into three regions. of each region is variously combination climate, geology, waste disposal irrigation practices salt intrusion. Region 1 the best quality, though in Asmara area groundwater polluted by nitrate (50–150 mg l −1 NO 3 ). impact on natural environment due to salinity hazard created high evapotranspiration becomes more pronounced across 2 reaches peak Red Sea catchments (Region 3), where it supplemented saline intrusion mineralized upflows. In this region, soil fertility greatly affected development constrained. Fluoride concentrations 7–17 are common Regions some dental fluorosis noted. Upflows thermal (34–100°C) exist coastal zone provide potential energy resource. Both these factors affecting resource general require careful investigation conservation measures.
