Measurement of thermal expansion coefficients using an in-fibre Bragg-grating sensor

摘要: A simple method to measure the thermal expansion coefficient using a surface-mounted Bragg-grating sensor is presented. This uses single, uniform-pitch fibre that only partially glued onto specimen. To prevent cross talk between two Bragg wavelengths reflecting from and free sections, preloading applied before it After release, are observed. The wavelength reflected section not specimen used temperature variations; affected by variations in strain. Therefore, can be determined calculating spectral separation of wavelengths. measured an aluminium plate for every C range 35-C. It good agreement with value aluminium. However, scheme will lead incorrect results if there gradient across grating or material inhomogeneous.
