摘要: Polyphagous shot hole borer (PSHB) (Euwallacea spec.; Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae) has recently invaded southern California, USA. Along with its associated fungi, the beetle causes branch dieback and tree mortality in more than 200 host species, including avocado (Persea americana Mill., Lauraceae) many important native, urban landscape, nursery stock trees. As PSHB spreads into avocado-growing regions of there is a pressing need for information effective management insect/fungus complex. The objective this study was to examine cultivars see whether were differences susceptibility attack gallery development from PSHB. We conducted choice no-choice trials cut branches laboratory, artificially infested saplings PSHB, also surveyed rates two field-grown subject natural by Laboratory field showed similar patterns preference among indicated formation. Among common commercial cultivars, Fuerte, Gwen, Bacon most often had lower Zutano frequently high much formation, indicating that it may be susceptible PHSB cultivars.
