摘要: Cardiac surgical complications may be caused by a plethora of events. Oxygen free radicals participate in the pathophysiology cardiopulmonary bypass and myocardial ischaemiareperfusion injury. The evidence radical production during is limited, studies effect scavengers even more limited. Experimental work points towards role oxygen reperfusion damage ischaemic myocardium, but clinical data are lacking. Hitherto availability scavengers/antioxidants has been scarse. At present such drugs becoming clinically applicable, trials on their highly warranted, particular as an adjuvant protection.
