摘要: Emergence agitation or delirium is a known phenomenon in the postanesthesia period. The underlying cause not definitively understood. In U.S. Army hospital's care unit, combat-related posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can complicate interventions. Scant evidence-based research exists on issue. By presenting case studies of 2 patients who underwent different surgical procedures, authors argue that traditional modalities to reorient and calm experiencing emergence have PTSD are shown be effective. first procedure demonstrates outcomes situation handled through second after incorporation evidence-driven conclude best practice includes proper identification at risk agitation, minimally stimulating environment, intraoperative sympatholytic therapy, patient staff education. Although presented support these principles, needed provide stronger evidence. Military medical personnel take lead this issue source for improved high-quality care.
